Just got through comparing this lens against my 70-200 Z on a Z7II and pleasantly surprised how well the Tamron kept up. Resolution at 70 and 150 ranges was literally the same with any differences in the noise as shots were indoors in lower light with flash. AF speed is very good with a slight nod to the Nikon zoom but due to the limits of the Z7 camera, the differences were not that great.
with a lighter weight is much easier to manage than the 70-200. The extra 35mm on the low end at the expense of 50mm on the high end is a no brainer as I shoot mostly on the lower side of the 70-200 anyway.
I consider the 70-200Z to be a stellar lens but the Tamron is playing in that neighborhood. Quite impressive indeed.
