In this comprehensive review, we will delve into the various aspects of the Xiaomi 13T Pro, including its design and build quality, display and multimedia experience, performance and software, camera capabilities, and battery life and charging. By examining these key areas, we aim to provide an in-depth understanding of what the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13T bring to the table.

Design and Build Quality

The Xiaomi 13T Pro boasts a sleek and durable design, featuring a glass back and a metal frame with a visually pleasing texture. The device is available in three finishes: black, Meadow Green (glass), or Alpine Blue (vegan leather). The front panel is flat and made of Gorilla Glass 5, while the back is slightly curved towards the frame, giving the phone a thinner appearance. The frame is also flat with a matte finish and small but noticeable chamfers.

Key design features of the Xiaomi 13T Pro include:

  • IP68 certification for dust and water resistance
  • Thin bezels and a tiny punch hole for the 20MP selfie camera
  • Earpiece doubling as a stereo speaker, with another sound outlet at the top
  • Square-shaped glass camera housing with a 50MP primary camera and a 50MP telephoto camera
  • Dimensions: 162.2 x 75.7 x 8.5 mm, weighing 200g or 206g depending on the back material

Despite its large size, the Xiaomi 13T Pro is relatively light and easy to handle. However, the reflective glass back is prone to smudges, and the large beveled camera module is hard to miss. While the device lacks the premium feel of higher-end models, it still offers a solid and visually appealing design.

Display and Multimedia Experience

The Xiaomi 13T Pro boasts a stunning 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,712 x 1,220 pixels, offering sharp and vibrant visuals. Protected by Gorilla Glass 5, the display features a smooth 144 Hz refresh rate, ensuring fluid scrolling and responsive interactions. The display also supports a wide color gamut, covering the DCI-P3 color space in Vivid mode and sRGB in Original mode, both with impressive accuracy.

Key features of the Xiaomi 13T Pro’s display include:

  • 12-bit color depth and HDR10+ support for enhanced visual quality
  • Peak brightness of 2,600 nits for HDR highlights, with Dolby Vision support
  • Adaptive refresh rate up to 144 Hz for smooth performance
  • Always-On Display (AOD) with customizable settings
  • Reading mode with various options, including a grainy Paper version and desaturated colors

The Xiaomi 13T Pro’s multimedia experience is further enhanced by its proprietary apps, such as Gallery, Music, Mi Video, and a MIUI File manager. The device also comes with a Mi Remote app, allowing users to control compatible devices using the built-in IR blaster. With its impressive display and comprehensive multimedia features, the Xiaomi 13T Pro offers an immersive and enjoyable viewing experience for users.

Xiaomi 13T Pro Performance and Software

The Xiaomi 13T Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9200+ processor, paired with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of non-expandable storage. The device supports Bluetooth 5.4, 5G, NFC connectivity, and Wi-Fi 7. It runs on Android 13 with MIUI 14, and Xiaomi promises four years of major Android updates and one more year of security patches for the 13T series.

Some notable features of MIUI 14 include:

  1. Automatic compression for apps that are not actively used
  2. Toggle to turn off permanent notifications
  3. Enhanced privacy with end-to-end encryption and local on-device processing of user data
  4. Split between a notification shade and Control Center enabled by default
  5. App drawer enabled by default, with the search bar placed at the bottom for easier reach
  6. Customizable Always-on display and UI themes

The Dimensity 9200+ chipset offers impressive performance, featuring:

  • Octa-core processor with a prime Cortex-X3 core @ 3.35Hz, 3x Cortex-A715 cores @ 3.0GHz, and 4x Cortex-A510 @ 2.0GHz
  • ARM Immortalis-G715 MC11 GPU (@1164MHz) with hardware-based ray tracing engine
  • Variable Rate Shading (VRS) and double machine learning performance compared to its predecessor
  • ARM Fixed Rate Compression (AFRC) for reduced bandwidth usage

In benchmark tests, the Xiaomi 13T Pro showcased its powerful performance:

BenchmarkScore
Geekbench 6 GPU Compute8,465 points (OpenCL)
Geekbench 6 Single-core1,307 points
Geekbench 6 Multi-core3,421 points
PCMark14,312 points

The Xiaomi 13T Pro’s fingerprint reader is fast and reliable, with extended functionality allowing users to open an app or initiate action as soon as they unlock the device. The device also offers face unlocking, although it’s not as secure as fingerprint recognition.

Camera Capabilities

The Xiaomi 13T Pro boasts an impressive triple-lens camera system, co-developed with the renowned camera brand Leica. The main shooter features a 50MP Sony IMX707 sensor with 1.22µm pixels, coupled with a 24mm f/1.9 stabilized 7-element lens (OIS). This primary camera delivers sharp images with excellent detail and dynamic range.

The 13T Pro and 13T are the initial Xiaomi T-series gadgets to feature Leica camera branding, suggesting a notable improvement in quality from previous models.

Complementing the main camera are:

  • A 50MP telephoto camera with an OmniVision OV50D sensor, offering 2x optical zoom via a 50mm f/1.9 5-element lens
  • A 12MP ultrawide camera using an OmniVision OV13B sensor with 1.12µm pixels, paired with a 15mm f/2.2 5-element lens

The camera app offers two processing modes: Leica Vibrant (default) for punchier colors and Leica Authentic for more realistic hues and deeper shadows. Other notable features include:

  1. Night Mode available for all four cameras, including the 20MP Sony IMX596 selfie camera
  2. Portrait Mode with various artistic effects, using the telephoto camera by default
  3. 8K video recording capability, although not the focus of this review

While the Xiaomi 13T Pro’s camera performs well in various lighting conditions, maintaining color accuracy and handling different scenes with good detail, it may struggle in low light situations. However, the Night Mode helps to achieve decent results even in challenging lighting. The camera’s processing could be further improved, especially in low light conditions, to elevate the overall photography experience.

Xiaomi 13T Pro Battery Life and Charging

The Xiaomi 13T Pro boasts an impressive 5,000mAh battery, which scored an endurance rating of 102 hours in tests . The device supports 120W HyperCharge technology and comes with a 120W GaN charger and a 6A-rated cable, enabling it to charge up to 68% in just 15 minutes . In fact, the Xiaomi 13T Pro can fully charge its battery in a mere 19 minutes .

Despite its impressive fast charging capabilities, the Xiaomi 13T Pro does not support wireless charging . The device features an in-display fingerprint sensor for secure unlocking.

In terms of battery life, the Xiaomi 13T Pro outperforms even the iPhone 15 Pro Max, with a runtime of 11 hours and 5 minutes compared to the iPhone’s 10 hours and 50 minutes. The device offers:

  • 1 day (29 hours) of battery life with normal usage
  • 76 hours of battery life with light usage
  • 34 hours of battery life with intense usage

The Xiaomi 13T Pro showcases above-average autonomy performance in outdoor navigation, video playback, and indoor gaming . However, its performance is less optimal in calling use cases, both indoors and outdoors. It’s worth noting that the device has a relatively high residual power drain when still plugged in.

Good Stuff Very well calibrated screen (by choosing the right mode). Very fast charging. Long-term software updates. IP68 certification.
Bad Stuff Dimensity 9200+ a little less efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Poor low light photos.
Summary
The Xiaomi 13T Pro offers a compelling alternative to the pricier 13 Pro. Featuring a stunning Amoled display that is bright and well-calibrated, provided the correct mode is selected. It delivers ample power, comfortable battery life, and remarkably fast charging. While it may not match the 13 in terms of photography prowess, it remains highly versatile. Additionally, its support for the latest wireless standards, eSIMs, and IP68 certification is commendable.
